This year, FIVE will continue to represent an exciting group of leading makers in metal: Ane Christensen, Angela Cork, Hamish Dobbie, Jessica Jue and Patrick Davison.

All the work on show reflects the artists’ shared passion for precision, fine craftsmanship and drive to challenge perceptions and expectations of tradition.

For 2024, all five artists will be showing new work in response to the theme ‘Colour’.

A conversation between FIVE metalsmith Ane Christensen, one of the UK’s leading contemporary makers, and Tom Faulkner, celebrated British metal furniture designer. They explore their passion for their shared material, the many parallels in their practices and where they find inspiration.

A discussion about a unique cross-collaboration of objects between the stands of Goldsmiths’ Fair and FIVE, created especially for this year. FIVE will show a group of five unique beakers on the Goldsmiths’ Fair stand, representing the meeting of the individual voices of the five makers.

FIVE is a brand new platform, that launched at Collect International Art Fair 2022. It was conceived by five contemporary makers all determined to shine a spotlight on the craft of contemporary silversmithing and metalwork. As a small but focused group, they have created a unique opportunity to present a curated concept in metal and show a larger body of work together.

Tom Faulkner, celebrated maker of metal furniture, will host ‘FIVE’ a new silver and metal collective creating contemporary sculpture and objects at his Chelsea showroom during London Craft Week in May, with ‘Lines of Distinction’, Celebrating the Craft of Metalwork.

Except for the makers’ shared material, the practices of Ane Christensen and Patrick Davison couldn’t appear more opposite. A conversation between these contrasting makers will be chaired by curator and journalist Corinne Julius.

‘Supporting contemporary makers through commissions’ is a booth talk with The Goldsmiths’ Company, renowned for their promotion of excellence and craftsmanship in contemporary British silver.
